When staying in our cottages in Cornwall make sure you visit the fabulous Charlestown Regatta, the event runs from the 30th July until the 5th August and is packed with fun for all the family.
The week-long event is held in Charlestown, often referred to as the prettiest village in Cornwall, with its beautiful Georgian houses lining the harbour with a host of sailing ships providing an unforgettable back drop. The village has become a regular location for the filming of a variety of films and TV shows such as The Eagle Has Landed, Alice In Wonderland and most recently the soon to be released Tom Hardy led Taboo.
The village is no stranger to the hustle and bustle of events, with the Regatta taking centre stage for the village with everyone getting involved in this event.
The weeklong event which coincides with the Bank Holiday weekend includes a triathlon, raft races, live music from both local and national artists, a carnival, the hugely popular raft race, BBQ’s and fun filled events for children.
The Charlestown Regatta ends with the Regatta Rocks concert where you can watch great musical performances and dance the night away before falling back into the comforts of our cottages in Cornwall.
Performers this year include The Claze, a four piece Cornish band, with a folk-blues style that have recently been lauded on Radio 2. Also performing are Where’s Martin, a 7 piece band that are full of energy which will be sure to have the crowd jumping with their covers of Michael Jackson, Kaiser Chiefs and Martha and The Muffins. Finally, rounding of the night will be the ever popular Mad Dog Mcrea, a 6 piece British folk band from nearby Plymouth. Their eclectic music blends a mix of folk, rock, pop, gypsy, jazz and bluegrass who have performed all over the world with their imaginative songs inspired by fables, legends, pirates, gypsies and fairies!
