The popular Falmouth Oyster Festival is back for its 20th year from Thursday, October 13 to Sunday, October 16. The festivities celebrate the start of the oyster dredging season especially the native Fal Oyster, and all Cornish seafood related things.

When on your family holidays in Falmouth this October be sure to check out the festival and try some delicious local oysters yourself. There are loads of cooking demos, craft stalls and live music to entertain over the four-day extravaganza.

On Thursday 13, The Tinners are returning to the festival to bring you their mix of English, Irish, and Scottish folk music on banjos, fiddles, guitar, keyboard and whistle. Thursday night will also see award winning gospel singer Ley Adewole accompanied by the Falmouth Community Gospel Choir.

On Friday 14 the line-up consists of Cornish singer and songwriter Suzie Mac and Falmouth Soul Sensations. Supporting local artists is a key part of the Oyster Festival, and the mixture of soul music and classic covers will definitely keep the Cornish spirit going throughout the weekend.

On Saturday the music arrives from Aberdeen with Freewheelin’ an energetic four-piece folk/blues rock band. The afternoon turns to jazz, with old favourites of the festival, Black Rock Jazz Band, set to return to the music stage.

The Festival is rounded out with Cornish folk music from The Changing Rooms on Sunday 16, and the festival will come to a close to the sounds of traditional folk music from the Cornish voices of The Oggymen.

Entry to the festival is free, except for Thursday and Saturday night, and tickets can be bought online at See Tickets for these two events. A full list of the programme can be found here. Get excited for food and drink stalls, real ale and wine bars, seafood bars – with oysters! – boat races, the Grand Oyster Parade and much more!
