Autumn in Cornwall is beautiful, as the green of summer is taken over by the crimson, orange, and golden hues of autumn. You don’t want to miss out on a holiday with the family to the Duchy at this time of year, and with October half term only a few weeks away, just book one of our luxury cottages in Cornwall.

When on your autumn getaway to the South West, why not make every moment an adventure? Take a look below at some of the fun activities you can do only at this time of year:

Beachcombing

All types of flotsam and jetsam get washed onto Cornish beaches after the late summer storms. Take the kids out to the beaches when the weather has cleared up and make it a competition for finding the strangest item. And if you want a different type of souvenir, the beautiful pieces of driftwood can be used and made into an ocean themed ornament at home.

Woodland walks

With over 300 miles of coastline on the South West Coast Path hosting stunning scenery at every step, an autumn walk is in order. There are gentle stretches of the route which is great for the young and elderly in your family, and also some challenging parts too. Check out our feature on woodland walks with your dog if you are bringing your four-legged friend on holiday too.

Go foraging

An enjoyable past time for the whole family, foraging is a great way for you to explore Cornwall too. A popular activity in Cornwall, you can learn tips on the best places for foraging for wild food and what to look out for among the hedgerows. If you are on a blackberry picking adventure, be sure to bring something to carry them in!

Art and culture

If the weather takes a turn for the worse, head for the many museums, galleries and more that you can find throughout Cornwall. Not far from our cottages there is the Maritime Museum in Falmouth which has great activities the kids can enjoy, and there is also Hall for Cornwall in Truro with music, theatre, and comedy.

Food festival

Every autumn, Cornwall has an abundance of delicious food and drink festivals. From the Great Cornish Food Festival, Oktoberfest, Falmouth Oyster Festival and more you will be spoilt for choice and brimming with the best local produce.

These are just five of the awesome activities you can do and turn your holiday into a mini adventure this autumn. With so much to do, there is something different every time you visit this wonderful part of England.
