If you haven’t heard, Falmouth is now a finalist in the Great British High Street Competition! Votes are still needed though to support Falmouth’s bid to win. This competition could see Falmouth scoop a share of the £100,000 prize.

Public votes make up 50 per cent of the final decision, so the Falmouth team are urging all locals, businesses, and fans of the town to get online and keep voting. People can vote once a day, or more if they use an email address, however the deadline is on Friday, November 18th.

With just over a week to go before the voting closes, Falmouth are falling behind in second place. Cleethorpes is currently leading, and Prestatyn in Wales is sitting comfortably in third place.

The Great British High Street Competition celebrates the fantastic work which is being done to revive and adapt the nation’s high streets. This is one of several initiatives to assist the champion high streets as the cornerstones of the community.

Andrew Percy, High Streets Minister, said: “Over 150,000 votes have been cast in the competition so far, proving that people are passionate about their high streets up and down the country. Falmouth did fantastically well to make it into the final three, but now every vote counts and they need an extra push to get them title of Britain’s best high street.”

As well as the public vote, the judges of the competition will account for the other 50 per cent of the final decision. The Falmouth team is waiting for them to carry out their visit any day now.
