With the October half term holidays only a couple of weeks away, we take a look at some of the activities on offer in and around Truro!
Royal Cornwall Museum
While the exhibits themselves are reason enough to visit the Royal Cornwall Museum, you certainly won’t want to miss out on the activities they have planned for the autumn half term. From the 20th to 28th October, the Truro-based museum will be experiencing all things dinosaur with their ‘Positively Prehistoric Pranks’ week. With ‘Hand on History’ sessions running each day, as well as ‘make and take’ craft activities available between 10 am and 1pm, there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained. The week finishes with the spectacular Dinosaur Detectives Puppet Show, which will be taking place at 5pm on Sunday 28th October, with tickets costing £5 for children and £6 for adults.
Truro Cathedral
A must-see spot when visiting Truro, the cathedral is a stunning building to explore in its own right. If you’re looking for a way to keep the kids entertained as you take in the beauty of Truro Cathedral, then they certainly have you covered, with a range of craft-based activities and fun trails running throughout the half term week! Fingerpaint trees can be made on Monday 22nd, Rainbow decorations on Tuesday 23rd and Leaf Art will be the theme on Wednesday 24th, making for a very autumnal craft session! Over these days there will also be a teddy bear spotting trail throughout the Cathedral.
Half Term at The Valley
If you’re staying with us at The Valley, we have a number of exciting activities planned right here at our child-friendly Cornwall cottages! One of our favourite events is the Bushcraft & Survivalist Skills experience, on Wednesday 24th October, which will teach you how to survive in the wild, with lessons on everything from building shelters to starting fires! Of course, you won’t really need these skills while staying with us, as you will have a luxurious bed to sink into at the end of a busy day learning new skills; but it’s a lot of fun anyway!
With Halloween on the way, we have some spooky activities planned too. Over the Autumn half-term, we will be visited by John Brolly, a BAFTA-winning storyteller who has some ghostly tales to tell around the campfire after a fun-filled day of pumpkin carving and treasure hunting in the woods.
Sports fans and those with a competitive streak will also have plenty to do, as we are holding games and challenges on the green on Sundays 21st and 28th, as well as archery sessions on Tuesday 23rd!
