Bringing the country to the city, The Primestock Show returns to Lemon Quay in Truro again this year, giving you the chance to have some fun and find delightful Christmas presents at the same time!
As the only primestock show in all of Britain to leave the farms for the streets, the show has a long history, and is now in its 116th year of celebrating the agricultural community in Cornwall!
This year, the Primestock Show will be taking place on Wednesday 5th December, with activities running from first thing in the morning, open to the public from 9.30am, on through to the evening! Much of the day is taken up with the livestock and farm produce competitions, which sees the local farm animals judged, with one lucky animal hopeful being crowned the Champion! Stalls of locally sourced produce will also be available throughout the day, including an assortment of preserves.
In the evening, from 6.30pm, when all the cattle and sheep have returned to their farms, the family entertainment commences, with exhibits of smaller animals, such as ducks, pigs and chickens, perfect for keeping little ones happy. The night ends with a charity auction, where you can attempt to get some incredible produce from local farms while supporting charity.
Following the Primestock Show on Wednesday 5th, the Primestock Society is back on Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December for their incredible Christmas Craft and Food Fair. Like the Primestock Show, the fair will also be taking place on Lemon Quay, with marquees set up for around 40 stalls of local arts, crafts, food and more! You’re bound to find the ideal Christmas present here, with an incredible assortment of gifts and goods from talented creators and producers across Cornwall!
Admission is free for both the Primestock Show and the Primestock Christmas Craft and Food Fair. There are plenty more markets and fairs in Cornwall near Truro this winter, as well as a wide range of Christmas activities in Cornwall, making it the perfect place to go if you’re looking for family-friendly holidays in Cornwall during the run up to Christmas!
