Falmouth

A street in Falmouth

If you’re planning a Cornish excursion where your dog can accompany you, a trip to Falmouth is a must. This town is known for its lovely harbour surrounded by independent shops and its rich maritime history.

Falmouth’s centre is just a 20-minute drive from The Valley, so you’ll definitely want to stop by.

While Falmouth’s most popular beaches do have a seasonal dog ban in place for some months of the year, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty more for you to enjoy during your stay.

Dog-Friendly Attractions in Falmouth

Finding things to do with a dog in tow can be quite a challenge, but luckily there are plenty of things to do in Falmouth, including:

  • Pendennis Castle – the artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII.
  • Trebah Gardens – just a fifteen-minute drive out of the town.
  • Boat trips up the Fal and the nearby Helford River.

Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Falmouth

As well as things to do, there are also plenty of places in Falmouth that will allow you to eat with your trusty dog by your side.

Portreath

The beach at Portreath

If you were looking for somewhere a little quieter, then why not visit the lovely little resort of Portreath while on your holiday? It’s just 5 miles north of Redruth and a 25-minute drive from us at The Valley.

What was once a bustling harbour town dedicated to the export of copper, Portreath is now a quiet spot with plenty of independent cafes and shops for locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

Dog-Friendly Attractions in Portreath

As Portreath is a rather quiet spot, there’s not much in the way of actual attractions. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty for you and your pup to do while you’re there! Some of our favourite places to go and things to do include:

  • Portreath Beach – where dogs are allowed between October 1st and Easter Sunday every year.
  • Tehidy to Deadman’s Cove Circular Walk in the Godrevy to Portreath Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Portreath

What this little harbour town lacks in attractions, it definitely makes up for in choices of places to eat. And, the vast majority of them are dog-friendly too!

Here are our top picks for places in Portreath where you can eat with your dog:

  • The Basset Arms – a local pub with a beer garden and live music events.
