Our Initiatives
At The Valley, we take pride and genuinely care about making a positive contribution to the environment in a variety of ways. Here’s how we’re working to ensure a sustainable stay for all our guests, to ensure a healthy environment for future generations.
MASTER SWITCH FOR ENERGY SAVING
Energy Conservation
Each cottage is equipped with a “Master Switch” to turn off all electricity. We encourage all guests to turn this off whenever they leave their cottages to save energy.
RECYCLING EFFORTS
Waste Reduction & Recycling
Each cottage includes clearly marked recycling bins for easy waste sorting. Additional, larger recycling bins are available around the site. We are committed to reducing single-use plastics: new linens, towels, and slippers are packaged in compostable wrapping. We are now making the switch over to refillable and reusable toiletries, from a reputable eco-friendly brand.
LOCAL SOURCING
Supporting Local & Reducing Carbon Footprint
Products in our Cornish Arrival Hampers and breakfast baskets are sourced and purchased from local vendors, helping us reduce our carbon footprint and lower food miles, while supporting local businesses.

Nurturing Biodiversity at The Valley
At The Valley, we are dedicated to creating sustainable habitats for local wildlife. Our grounds team plants wildflowers and bulbs across the site, providing rich spaces for pollinators to thrive. We’ve also established a composting area to turn food waste into nourishing compost for our flower beds. Our new nature walk, set in untouched woodland, features bug houses, natural fencing, bird boxes, feeders, and a herb garden, all designed to support wildlife and engage our guests. Additionally, we plant new trees and plants each year, fostering a biodiverse ecosystem that sustains local flora and fauna. You will love our wildlife friendly haven!
NATURE WALK & WILDLIFE HABITATS
Nature Conservation & Engagement
A new nature walk has been created in a previously unused woodland area. This walk includes bug houses, natural fencing, fairy doors (piskie forest), bird boxes, feeders, and a herb garden for guest and restaurant use. A bug hotel on-site provides a safe haven for minibeasts and insects. Each year, we plant additional trees and plants across the site to support the local wildlife population. You will also see that we embrace natural, and allow the wildlife and eco-systems to flourish, without ‘over’ gardening.
SMART LIGHTING, EFFICIENT COTTAGES, & EV CHARGING
Energy Efficiency & Eco-Friendly Amenities at The Valley
At The Valley, we focus on energy conservation with solar-powered, sensor-activated lighting, using mains power only as needed. Lighting is upgraded to energy-efficient LEDs, while cottages feature enhanced insulation and double-glazed windows to reduce heat loss. For eco-conscious travelers, we offer on-site EV charging with a 7kw Garo charger and 3-pin plug options. Select cottages also allow direct EV charging by arrangement for added convenience.
