We provide a fun schedule of free, fantastic hair-raising activities for all of the family during the autumn half term and Halloween. From spooky stories by the campfire to cookie decorating, there’s something for everyone! Here’s a hint of what you can expect from our Halloween breaks…
Half Term Activities for Kids
In previous years, our extensive activities have included learning survival skills such as building shelters and starting fires, archery sessions, cookie decorating and creepy crafts. A visit from Mark’s Ark offered an experience in all things creepy and crawly with his friends, the insects, snake, and owl.
Campfire Storytelling
Sip on a hot chocolate with marshmallows to keep you cosy while you gather around the campfire and experience tales from the dark side with BAFTA award-winning storyteller John Brolly.
Halloween Hampers
In previous years, we have offered Halloween hampers to be delivered to your cottage containing all the fun things you need to get into the Halloween spirit! You’ll find pumpkins and carving tools to decorate, as well as spooky sweets and frightfully fun activity kits for the kids!
Treasure Hunts & Trick or Treating
Journey into our woodland for a wickedly spooky hunt along decorated trails. There’s guaranteed to be tricks and treats along the way! For those who want to participate in trick or treating on our gated cottage site, pop your pumpkin outside your door to welcome trick-or-treaters on Halloween night!
Halloween Bonfire Menu
MasterChef marvel Ondine has been known to put on a special Halloween Bonfire menu for us all at Hart of The Valley, our on-site restaurant. We’ll be dishing up seasonally inspired dishes with local ingredients.

Jamaica Inn
One of the most famous haunted inns in Cornwall, Jamaica Inn is known for its ghostly apparitions and strange noises. It’s also famous for its connection to the smuggling trade and Daphne du Maurier’s novel “Jamaica Inn.”
Museum of Witchcraft & Magic
Home to one of the most extensive collections of witchcraft-related artefacts in the world, the museum explores the history and folklore of witchcraft and magic.
Pendennis Castle
Built by Henry VIII, Pendennis Castle has a long history and is rumoured to be haunted by several ghosts, including a drummer boy and a screaming kitchen maid.
Bodmin Jail
This historic former prison is now a museum and offers ghost tours. It is said to be haunted by former inmates, and the tours often explore its dark history and ghostly legends.
Prideaux Place
