It won’t be just the one Santa making the rounds this year, if you head down to Fistral beach on December 12th you’ll find the ocean full of surfing Santas.
The swapping of sleds for surfboards is part of the ‘Santa Surf and Fun Run’ which is organised by the Fistral Surf Centre, Cornwall Hospice Care and The Joe Way Appeal with all proceeds going to local charities.
The fun run is for all abilities and can be walked, jogged or ran and always has a large variety of participants with a fantastic festive atmosphere on the beach. After the run, the best course of action is to grab a hot drink and a mince pie and find somewhere comfortable to sit so you can enjoy the start of the ‘Santa Foamie Surfing Contest’ which starts at 12.30pm.
Matt Way of the Joe Way Appeal shared his excitement: “We are stoked to be invited to this event for the second year running and look forward to the Newquay community putting on a good show”.
The aquatic Father Christmas’ will be competing for some great prizes across open divisions for men and women as well as an under 16 division, but no matter what your ability this is a fun event to be a part of, it’s about giving the opportunity to those who have always wanted to compete, and to do so in a fun atmosphere with seasoned competitors, whilst also making money for charity.
You can make a weekend of it by booking into one of our Cornwall cottages and make the most of your time in Cornwall whilst taking part in this wonderful fun event. You can bring the whole family including the dog as Fistral is one of the many dog friendly beaches that are located throughout Cornwall.
