Ellen Kent, the award-winning opera producer is coming to Truro, close to our cottages in Cornwall with three different operas this October. La Bohème, Nabucco, and Aida will feature international soloists, a full orchestra and chorus.
The three operas will be performed at Hall For Cornwall in Truro next week from October 12 to 15.
La Bohème will be performed on Wednesday, October 12 at 7.30pm. One of the most romantic operas ever written by Puccini, the opera tells the tale of the doomed Mimi and her love for a penniless writer. The set reflects the Bohemian style of the period, and the opera will include a local brass band and snow effects. There is a pre-show talk at 6pm and booking is essential.
Verdi’s Nabucco will be the second opera appearing at Hall For Cornwall, on Thursday, October 13 starting at 7.30pm The powerful story is interwoven with revenge and jealousy. Verdi’s haunting chorus of the Hebrew slaves follows the plight of the Hebrews as they are forced from their land by King Nabucco.
The final opera of the week is another from Verdi, Aida. This opera will have two performances on Friday 14 October and Saturday 15 October both starting at 7.30pm. Aida stars Olga Perrier, the International French Soprano as Aida and Liza Kadelnik the acclaimed Mezzo appears as Amneris from the Romanian National Opera. The tragic story of jealousy, war, and revenge features a temple dance, fire performers, and Triumphal March.
